WHAT IS STORK’S NEST? Stork’s Nest is a program designed to increase the number of women who get early and regular prenatal care so that more babies get a healthy start in life. A cooperative national project of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and the March of Dimes, Stork’s Nest fulfills the sorority’s pledge to contribute to health and welfare of children, and is ultimately tied to the March of Dimes mission to prevent birth defects and infant mortality. HOW DOES STORK’S NEST WORK? Pregnant women are referred to a local Stork’s Nest through clinics, neighborhood health centers, or other health care facilities that provide prenatal care services. Stork’s Nest provides baby clothing, nursery items and community resources to low income women who attend educational sessions on pregnancy, birth and infant care. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. provides the ongoing leadership and volunteers to select sites and operate each Stork’s Nest. |
